Who are the Veterans foundation?

The Veterans Foundation provides a nation-wide source of funding for British Armed Forces charities to help them carry out life-changing projects for veterans in need and their dependents. Founded by Major General David Shaw, CBE and set up in July, 2016, the organisation has raised over £3.2 million with over 220 charities so far benefiting through awarded grants. The Veterans’ Foundation acquires its funds through its popular national Veterans’ Lottery, which not only provides a long-term, sustainable source of funding, but also gives players the chance to win up to £25,000 in each monthly draw.

How we help veterans

This, along with donations, has allowed the Veterans’ Foundation help fund a range of life-changing projects including those that tackle issues such as physical injury, mental health, homelessness and poverty.

“Many people suffer from poor hearing through service in the British Armed Forces, said Veterans Foundation CEO, David Shaw.
“We know how debilitating this can be and we encourage the focused support that UK VHF can provide.”
“The Veterans’ Foundation is most grateful to donors and subscribers to the Veterans’ Lottery, so please continue to support us so we can support those in need among the armed forces family.”

Why we do what we do

Veterans Foundation ambassador Jon White was a Captain in the Royal Marines whose life changed forever when he stepped on an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) while on tour in Afghanistan in 2010.

He lost both legs above the knee and his right arm above the elbow at the age of 27. But with the help of military charities he’s been able to rebuild his life.

“Both myself, and many people like me, owe so much to charities like the Veterans’ Foundation and that’s why I’m immensely proud to be an ambassador,” he said.

“The Veterans’ lottery provides a long-term, sustainable source of funding for veterans living with physical and mental issues.
“It also provides funding for projects that help homeless veterans into safe shelter and supports training to help ex-servicemen and women make the transition into civilian life.”

For just £10 a month you can help fund life-changing projects for British veterans in need.
