Mr Gamble’s Journey

Mr. John Edmund joined the RAF in 1951, where he worked with loud aircraft and in noisy factories. Due to the constant exposure to noise, he had to wear hearing aids even before retiring from work. As a result of his hearing loss, Mr. Edmund finds communication to be extremely challenging. He has tried using standard hearing aids, but they are too painful and do not provide much relief.

According to John’s daughter, Claire, his hearing loss has also impacted his family, making communication difficult for everyone. It is an isolating experience for both John and his loved ones, highlighting the far-reaching effects of hearing loss. Speaking on the phone and in shops is found particularly hard.
